Job Summary

This role involves working as a Specialist in Species Protection and Environmental Impact Assessment within an interdisciplinary planning and consulting firm focused on municipal tasks in Odernheim am Glan, Rhineland-Palatinate. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing habitat potential analyses, conducting faunistic field surveys (with a focus on birds), and performing specialized species protection assessments. Key daily tasks include managing and preparing environmental reports, landscape management plans, and conservation contributions, as well as conducting Habitats Directive (FFH) compatibility checks. Candidates must hold a degree in landscape planning, environmental sciences, or a related field, possess strong knowledge of one or more faunistic groups (especially birds), and demonstrate proficiency in PC applications like Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable habitat protection and design, working within a collaborative 18-person urban planning team.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma/Master/Bachelor) in Landscape Planning, Spatial and Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Geoecology, or a comparable field of study

Experience

  • Professional experience in environmental assessment and species protection (desirable)
  • Practical experience in faunistic data collection/surveys
  • Knowledge of one or more faunistic species groups (especially birds)
  • Experience in preparing environmental reports and species protection assessments (desirable)
