Job Summary

The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) is seeking a dedicated Bioinformatician or Computer Scientist with a strong focus on Life Sciences to support and advance their lab-based wastewater surveillance program in Erlangen or Oberschleißheim. This role is crucial for recognizing the dynamics and spread of pathogens by analyzing wastewater samples using advanced molecular biology techniques, including Next-Generation Sequencing. Day-to-day responsibilities involve developing data analysis and reporting tools, building and operating associated IT infrastructures, and optimizing existing processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for scientific evaluation, presenting results, and collaborating with internal and external partners, including universities and municipal wastewater management. Key qualifications include a relevant Master's degree, professional experience in developing data analysis tools for life sciences, and proficiency in Python, R, Java, and SQL, along with comprehensive German (C1) and English language skills.

Master's degree or Diploma (University) in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science (with a focus on Life Sciences), or a comparable scientific discipline
