Computer Scientist / Research Associate (PhD Position) | Informatiker (m/w/d)
Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH
Job Summary
This PhD position, based at the Institute of Climate and Energy Systems, focuses on quantifying the change in energy consumption within the residential sector over the next two decades. The successful candidate will model energy consumption using an existing agent-based Load Profile Generator, requiring the research and modeling of new behavioral patterns and device developments to expand the underlying simulation. Key tasks include implementing new household behaviors and dependencies within the simulation, expanding the model's object inventory, and evaluating technical and behavioral model components. The role also involves planning and conducting scenario analyses on residential energy demand development and supporting the training of AI-based models for energy demand assessment at the neighborhood level. This is an exciting opportunity to actively shape the energy transition in the building sector as part of an international research team, contributing to the development of climate-friendly energy systems.
