Job Summary

This Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Rostock focuses on cutting-edge research in High Energy Density Physics and Inertial Fusion, specifically within the BMBF-funded IFUEL project. The role involves simulating the interaction of laser-generated plasmas with potential fusion reactor wall materials and providing theoretical support for experiments conducted at state-of-the-art high-energy laser facilities, including DESY and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. Key responsibilities also include co-supervising students involved in the IFUEL project and publishing research findings in scientific journals. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Physics or a comparable field, excellent knowledge of Plasma Physics, and experience with molecular dynamics simulations, coupled with strong programming and communication skills for effective international collaboration.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master’s, Diploma, or equivalent) in Physics or comparable field, followed by a Doctorate (PhD) in Physics or comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in research related to Inertial Fusion and High Energy Density Physics
  • Experience with Molecular Dynamics Simulations
  • Desirable experience with Radiation Hydrodynamics Simulations
