Job Summary

The Bavarian State Library, a world-class memory institution and innovation center for digital information services, is seeking an experienced Head of Finance Division to lead its central administration department. This pivotal role involves managing a team of 18 staff members and overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including budget planning, financial accounting, special and third-party fund management, tax and customs matters, and procurement. The successful candidate will be a proven leader with extensive experience in public administration, responsible for developing reporting and controlling systems, managing financial process optimization, and handling fundamental issues in public and private law relevant to finance (e.g., budgetary, procurement, and VAT law). This position offers a challenging, varied, and highly responsible role within one of Europe's largest and most innovative scientific universal libraries, providing significant scope for independent action and development.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (e.g., Public Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or comparable) OR modular qualification for the 4th qualification level (for civil servants)

Experience

  • Several years of leadership experience in public administration, preferably in cross-sectional areas
  • Professional experience in public service (for tariff employees)
  • Comprehensive practical knowledge in various areas of public and private law relevant to finance
