Job Summary

The DRESDEN-concept Genome Center (DcGC), a leading DFG-funded NGS Competence Center in Germany, is seeking a Head to provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership. This pivotal role involves overseeing the center's scientific services, including advanced next-generation sequencing (NGS), bioinformatics, and spatial genomics. The successful candidate will drive innovative research and development projects, particularly in single-cell and spatial genomics, epigenomics, and multi-omics integration, while also expanding the research portfolio with AI-supported analysis platforms and cloud-based data infrastructures. Responsibilities include managing the overall budget, advising the Steering Board, securing third-party funding, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. Required Skills

Education

University degree and a doctorate (PhD) in biology, biochemistry, medicine, or a closely related field; Strong academic qualification with proven research expertise in molecular genome research.

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or computational biology
  • In-depth knowledge of high-throughput sequencing, single-cell and spatial genomics, and multi-omics
  • Experience in applying for and managing challenging and complex research projects
  • Experience in science management
  • Ideally, experience in setting up and managing scientific service facilities (core facilities)
  • Proven leadership experience, preferably in interdisciplinary and international environments
