Job Summary

This role seeks a dedicated Ornithologist specializing in Avifauna to contribute actively to environmental planning projects, primarily focusing on wind power, solar, and infrastructure development across Germany. The core responsibility involves independently conducting extensive ornithological field mapping, including song mapping and optical identification of birds. The role requires significant travel, as the employee will be based away from home Monday to Friday in project areas nationwide, with all accommodation and travel costs covered. Beyond fieldwork, tasks include data analysis, interpretation, GIS evaluation, and preparing comprehensive environmental reports (e.g., LBP, UVS, AFB). Candidates must hold a completed natural science degree (BSc minimum) in Biology, Landscape Planning, or a related field, and possess a Class B driving license. This position offers the unique opportunity to work year-round in the field, contribute meaningfully to climate protection, and potentially engage in international projects as the company expands.

Education

Completed natural science degree (BSc minimum) in Biology, Landscape Planning, Geography, Natural/Environmental/Marine Studies, or equivalent

Experience

  • Professional experience in independent execution of ornithological field mapping
  • Familiarity with Avifauna identification techniques, including song mapping and optical identification of birds
  • Experience in environmental assessment and report creation (LBP, UVS, AFB, Flora/Fauna reports) is desirable

  • Driving License Class B (or currently in training to obtain it); Willingness to travel and work nationwide (away from home Monday to Friday); Ability to work full-time (40 hours) or part-time (minimum 30 hours)
