Job Summary
This crucial role within the Thuringian State Chancellery focuses on managing complex EU affairs, structural policy, and regional cooperation. The Policy Advisor will be responsible for drafting high-level documents, including memos, speaking notes, resolutions, and speeches for various governmental bodies, such as the Thuringian State Parliament, the Conference of European Ministers (EMK), and the EU Federal Council Committee. Key thematic areas include EU trade agreements, institutional questions, foreign and security policy, and the EU's Multiannual Financial Framework. A core function involves coordinating the state government's European policy strategy and leading cross-border and interregional cooperation (ETZ) under INTERREG programs. This position requires deep expertise in the EU's political-administrative structure, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to handle complex, cross-departmental tasks, making it ideal for a professional seeking a high-impact role in public administration and European governance.
Required Skills
Education
Completed scientific university degree (State Examination, Diploma, or Master's) in Law, Administrative Science, or Political Science, or comparable field, preferably with a focus on European Law or European Policy; or eligibility for the higher non-technical administrative service.
Experience
- Professional experience in public administration or comparable institutions, ideally in ministerial administration
- In-depth knowledge of the EU's political-administrative structure, especially in the context of the Free State of Thuringia
- In-depth knowledge in cross-departmental processing of tasks with reference to the European Union
- Experience in dealing with high-ranking representatives from politics, administration, and science (desirable at the European level)
