Job Summary
This role seeks an experienced Technical Assistant or Lab Technician specializing in Fermentation Process Development to join a leading biopharmaceutical contract developer and manufacturer in Hamburg. The core responsibility involves transitioning lab-scale fermentation processes into stable industrial production. Day-to-day tasks include the preparation, execution, and follow-up of cultivation processes using bioreactors, performing primary downstream processing via filtration and centrifugation, and preparing necessary culture media and buffers. A key aspect is process analysis using techniques like Gel Electrophoresis and HPLC, alongside meticulous documentation of manufacturing protocols and process data. Candidates must possess several years of professional experience in Upstream/Fermentation, ideally holding a BTA/CTA qualification or a B.Sc. in Biotechnology. This position offers the chance to work under GMP conditions, handle genetically modified microorganisms (S1/S2), and contribute to cutting-edge biopharmaceutical drug substance production, requiring a proactive approach and willingness for occasional non-standard working hours.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or Biology Lab Technician; or a completed B.Sc. in Biotechnology or Bioprocess Engineering; or a comparable qualification

- Several years of professional experience in Upstream/Fermentation
- Experience in the food, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology sector
