Job Summary

The City of Warendorf is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join the Department of Civil Engineering and Mobility. This permanent, full-time position involves the critical task of maintaining and developing approximately 750 km of municipal roads and traffic routes. Key responsibilities include independently designing traffic facilities, managing the entire project lifecycle from planning through implementation (HOAI phases 1-8), and handling complex tendering, awarding, and billing processes according to VOB. The role requires acting as the client representative (Bauherrschaft), overseeing external engineering offices, consultants, and experts. A vital component of the job is engaging with citizens and political stakeholders to address inquiries and develop compromises concerning infrastructure projects. Candidates must possess a university degree in Civil or Traffic Engineering, strong technical knowledge in public infrastructure planning and construction management, and fluency in German. This position offers varied, responsible projects, such as river renaturation and urban street construction, providing a unique opportunity to actively shape the city’s infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Dipl. Ing., B. Sc, M.Sc.) in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Good technical knowledge in planning and construction management in the area of public traffic infrastructure
  • Professional experience in a municipal civil engineering administration (ideally)
