Job Summary
The Cancer Registry of Saxony (KRS) is seeking a dedicated Data Scientist or Medical Informatician to join their state evaluation office in Dresden. This role is crucial for improving cancer care quality by utilizing epidemiological and clinical cancer registry data. Day-to-day tasks involve programming complex data evaluations using R, summarizing medical data, and advancing the application of Machine Learning and AI systems for relevant oncological questions. Key responsibilities also include maintaining and developing the database (Oracle/SQL) and extracting structured information from medical free texts. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Medical Informatics, Statistics) and possesses strong expertise in R programming, statistical analysis, and relational databases. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Master/Diploma; PhD desirable) in Data Science, Natural Sciences, Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or Economics with a quantitative focus.
Experience
- Professional experience in statistical programming and data analysis with R (Tidyverse, Tidymodels, Shiny desirable)
- Experience with Pipelinetools
- Experience with Machine Learning methods (supervised and unsupervised learning)
- Desirable knowledge of medical databases

- Located in Dresden, Germany. Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time (minimum 30 hours/week) possible. Self-reliant scientific work required.
