Job Summary
This is a critical, one-year maternity cover role starting April 1, 2026, where you will take on the technical and disciplinary leadership of a three-person VAT Compliance Team. Your primary focus will be ensuring that all tax-relevant processes, data, and standards meet the highest quality and compliance requirements within an e-commerce environment. Day-to-day, you will manage VAT master data specialists and a data analyst, prioritize requirements, make crucial decisions in escalation scenarios, and provide regular status updates to senior management, Product, and Legal teams. You will collaborate closely with the VP Product and Technical Product Owner, bringing the compliance perspective into product development meetings. This role requires robust VAT knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to communicate complex regulatory changes clearly and implement necessary process optimizations under pressure. The position offers a responsible leadership role with direct impact, flexible working hours (32–40h/week), and a hybrid work model primarily remote with weekly office presence in Berlin-Mitte.
Required Skills
Education
A completed degree (e.g., Business Administration, Law, Economics) is advantageous but not mandatory.
Experience
- Multiple years of experience in technical and disciplinary leadership of teams (2-5 persons)
- Foundational understanding of VAT and regulatory requirements (e.g., in Tax Consulting, Auditing, Corporate Tax, Compliance, Operations, or Process Management)
- Demonstrable success in leading projects or operational areas with cross-functional interfaces
