Job Summary

This full-time, permanent position at the State Office for the Environment (Landesamt für Umwelt) in Mainz involves performing crucial chemical quantitative instrumental analyses on groundwater, surface water, and wastewater samples. The role focuses heavily on single and total parameter analysis using techniques like ion chromatography, automated photometric processes, and total nitrogen/carbon determination. The technician will also assist in eco-toxicological testing (e.g., fish egg tests according to DIN ISO 15088), prepare water samples for inorganic trace element analysis, and contribute to method development and standardization according to DIN EN/ISO 17025. Key responsibilities include managing sample logistics, data entry, evaluation using a Laboratory Information and Management System (LIMS), and conducting regular field sampling with on-site analysis. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and possesses a completed training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician or equivalent.

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician (Chemielaborant), Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), or comparable equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in instrumental analysis for specified parameters or quantitative-analytical laboratory work (Advantageous)
  • Professional experience in conducting eco-toxicological tests (Advantageous)
  • Professional experience in sample preparation techniques (Advantageous)
  • Several years of documented professional experience in a comparable work environment (Advantageous)
  • Good knowledge in the use of LIMS systems and/or workflows in quality-assured areas (Advantageous)
