Job Summary
The Scientific Computing Center (SCC) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is seeking a Specialist to join the Scientific Computing and Simulation (SCS) division. This role focuses on the 'Breathing Data Center' project, which aims to develop a comprehensive approach for the ecological, economic, and social evaluation of data center infrastructures, including High Performance Computing (HPC) and large data storage systems. Day-to-day tasks involve applying Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) procedures (ISO 14040/44 compliant), developing a digital twin of the infrastructure, and deriving measures for decarbonization and efficiency improvement in line with KIT's sustainability strategy. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or PhD in environmental sciences, computer science, or engineering, possesses strong LCA knowledge, and has technical understanding of IT and data center infrastructures.
