Job Summary

This role involves working as a Scientific Researcher within the ILB-funded NaFuVer project, focusing on the sustainable functional integration of chitin-based sensors into composite materials for use in Vertical and Urban Farming. The core mission is to develop innovative indoor cultivation systems for macroalgae and halophytes by testing growth compartments made from these new materials under real-world conditions. Day-to-day tasks include cultivating marine macrophytes, optimizing cultivation parameters to boost biomass and nutrient profiles, investigating associated fungi, and analyzing biotechnologically interesting compounds. The researcher is also responsible for supervising Bachelor and Master students, presenting findings at international conferences, and publishing peer-reviewed scientific articles. A completed PhD in Natural Sciences and professional experience in marine macrophyte cultivation and biopolymer analysis are essential, offering a challenging position that links fundamental and applied plant sciences.
