Job Summary

This role requires a highly experienced scientific leader to head the Global Medical & Scientific Affairs division for Protein Diagnostics (PDX), a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Director will act as a visible frontline leader, providing medical and clinical expertise from product concept through post-market activities, and driving sustained clinical adoption of PDX products worldwide. Key responsibilities include leading Clinical Affairs and Medical Science Liaison teams, developing collaborations with key opinion leaders, providing scientific education, and ensuring successful clinical trials compliant with GCP-ICH principles. The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree (MD or MD/PhD) in Immunology or Biochemistry, possesses proven experience in the diagnostics industry, and has strong leadership skills to manage a global, matrixed team. This remote position offers the flexibility of being based anywhere in Europe but requires significant international travel (up to 50%), including regular monthly trips to the UK headquarters.

Required Skills

Education

Advanced degree (MD or MD/PhD) in Immunology or Biochemistry (or similar). Experience in Pathology or Haematology preferred.

Experience

  • Professional experience working in the diagnostics industry
  • Professional experience in a Director level role within the industry (strongly preferred)
  • Experienced people leader with direct reports management experience
  • Proven ability to perform successfully in a highly matrixed global environment

Additional

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of working time, including international travel and overnight stays. Must be able to travel regularly monthly to Birmingham, UK headquarters. Role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in Europe.
