Job Summary

This position is a part-time, fixed-term research role within the Experimental Nephrology working group at the ThIMEDOP-Thuringian Innovation Center for Medical Technology Solutions in Jena. The successful candidate will work on a third-party funded research project focused on developing a microfluidics-based 96-well platform for long-term cultivation of human cells under controlled fluid and pressure conditions. This platform supports both 2D and 3D cell cultures, with a specific focus on kidney cells and stem cell-based kidney organoids to better understand disease mechanisms. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research on human organoid structures, characterizing cells and tissues using methods like qPCR, performing genetic modifications, and running live-cell assays such as luminometry. The role requires a degree in life sciences, practical experience in molecular biology and cell culture, and strong English proficiency, offering an excellent opportunity to pursue a doctorate within an innovative, interdisciplinary environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, or comparable life sciences discipline. Doctorate (PhD) is sought/intended.

Experience
