Job Summary

This role involves working as a Laboratory and Development Engineer within the Institute for Solid State Research at the IFW Dresden, focusing on advanced materials science. The primary responsibilities include the development of novel hardware and software for various spectrometers, such as Photoemission, Electron Energy Loss, and X-ray Absorption spectrometers, particularly those used at BESSY and other IFW structural units. Key tasks also encompass the design, manufacturing, and expansion of Ultra-High Vacuum (UHV) components, as well as the operation and maintenance of complex UHV vacuum systems and related measurement equipment. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering, possesses fundamental knowledge of general lab techniques, and has practical experience with Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES) and synchrotron radiation applications. Education

University degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • Experience in Ultra-High Vacuum technology (UHV), specifically in the setup, operation, and maintenance of complex vacuum systems
  • Practical knowledge in Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), ideally with experience in data acquisition and evaluation
  • Experience in the use of synchrotron radiation for spectroscopic investigations
