Job Summary
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is seeking a Patent Officer, initially for a two-year fixed term, to join the Innovation and Relations Management unit. This role is crucial for managing and developing the institution's intellectual property portfolio. Day-to-day responsibilities involve processing and reviewing invention disclosures, particularly in engineering fields, focusing on analyzing third-party rights and potential infringements. The specialist will be responsible for defining the scope of protection applications, drafting IP applications, and representing KIT before patent offices and courts concerning applications, oppositions, and appeals. Key qualifications include a degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a doctorate and further training in industrial property rights, coupled with practical experience in IP database research and strong negotiation skills. This position offers the opportunity to shape business-oriented IP strategies and support crucial licensing and contract activities within a leading research university.
