Job Summary

This role seeks a proactive (Senior) Data Engineer to join the Data & AI team at dpa-IT Services, a subsidiary of the German Press Agency (dpa), responsible for critical global IT infrastructure. Based in Hamburg or Berlin, you will be crucial in developing, ensuring quality, and maintaining the central data platform built on Databricks/AWS. Day-to-day tasks involve integrating, modeling, and transforming diverse data sources (content, usage, and business data) to provide performant and scalable access for AI Engineers, Analysts, and Product Teams. You will define technical standards, architecture principles, and best practices for sustainable data infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses multi-year experience in Data Engineering with modern cloud stacks, expertise in PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, and ETL/ELT architectures, and practical knowledge of scalable data platform operations, including CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
