Job Summary

This role involves supporting and managing the laboratory operations within the Faculty of Medical Technology and Biotechnology at Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena. The Laboratory Engineer will primarily assist in conducting and supervising laboratory practicals across various subjects, including Applied and Molecular Microbiology, Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Active Ingredients, for both medical technology and biotechnology degree programs. Key responsibilities include setting up and innovatively developing practical experiments, organizing daily lab functions, maintaining and repairing equipment, and managing computer technology (Windows and Linux-based systems). The ideal candidate holds a degree in Biotechnology or a related natural science field, possesses strong practical expertise in chemical, microbiological, and bioinformatic methods, and has programming skills, specifically in Python. This position requires excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities to effectively mentor students on complex topics.
