Job Summary

This role involves leading a testing area within the 'Food Chemical Analysis' department at the State Office for Consumer Protection, focusing on veterinary, microbiological, molecular biological, and food chemical examinations. The Lead Examiner will be responsible for the scientific, technical, and organizational management of a testing unit, overseeing team members conducting food analyses according to standard and in-house procedures. Key responsibilities include quality assurance, releasing analysis results, introducing new testing methods, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety and legal requirements. The ideal candidate must be a state-certified food chemist with comprehensive knowledge of physical-chemical food analytics, modern analytical techniques, and international food/feed law. This is a demanding position requiring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate staff, contributing significantly to public health consumer protection efforts.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university degree in Food Chemistry and certification as a State-Certified Food Chemist (Staatlich geprüfter Lebensmittelchemiker)

Experience

  • Professional experience in quality management (working under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025)
  • Experience with Laboratory Information and Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Experience in leading and motivating team members
  • Professional experience in scientific and technical work within regional, national, and cross-state working groups
