Job Summary
This position offers a scientifically challenging role within the Institute for Clinical Transfusion Medicine and Immunogenetics Ulm, focusing on innovative diagnostic methods in a dedicated team environment. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for the biological evaluation of genetic variants using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) panels and translating Third-Generation Sequencing (TGS) for analyzing blood group genes and microbial pathogens. Key tasks include conducting de novo assemblies and resistance gene analyses for pathogen detection, as well as evaluating, implementing, and validating new analytical software solutions for NGS and TGS. The ideal candidate holds an academic degree (Master's minimum) in Biology, Life Sciences, Mathematics, or a related field, coupled with strong molecular genetic expertise, particularly in sequencing technologies (First, Second, and Third Generation). Success in this role requires a high degree of flexibility, teamwork, and a proactive approach to applying new technologies, ensuring high-quality scientific output and collaboration with bioinformatics specialists and laboratory staff.
