Job Summary
This senior leadership role involves managing the 'Air Traffic and Airports' division (Referat 33) within the Department for Economy, Ports, and Transformation in Bremen. The Head of Division is responsible for representing Bremen's interests in air traffic safety, acting as the supreme and upper state aviation and air security authority for Bremen and Bremerhaven, and enforcing the Aircraft Noise Protection Act. The role requires proven leadership competencies, strategic thinking, and deep professional experience, ideally within the aviation sector or public administration. You will lead a team of 14 employees, ensuring compliance with aviation and air security laws, and contributing to the economic backbone of the region, which encompasses significant ports and the Bremen airport. This is a full-time, permanent position starting August 1, 2026, offering a high level of responsibility in state governance.
Required Skills
Education
Master’s degree (Magister or University Diploma) in Economics, Law, Political Science, Administrative Science, Social Sciences (with relevant focus), Engineering Sciences, Integrated Safety and Security Management, or a technical/natural science field; OR qualification for promotion to salary group A 14; OR eligibility for the second entry level of career group 2 in General Services.
