This is a call for highly motivated PhD candidates (20 positions) and Postdoctoral Researchers (5 positions) to join the newly established Collaborative Research Center (CRC 425) DEFINE. The center, spanning multiple leading German universities including Marburg, LMU Munich, and Würzburg, focuses on investigating desmosomal dysfunction in epithelial barriers. The role involves conducting multidisciplinary research to uncover dynamic molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying desmosome disorders, such as pemphigus and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Candidates will collaborate with leading scientists across clinical medicine (dermatology, pediatrics, surgery), molecular biology, immunology, biomedicine, and systems research. This unique opportunity offers a chance to contribute fundamental knowledge towards comprehensively understanding desmosome functions in epithelial homeostasis within a cutting-edge research environment.
