Job Summary
This role as a Cobol Developer offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Germany's largest development initiatives, rvEvolution, aimed at modernizing the core rvSystem for the Deutsche Rentenversicherung (DRV). The successful candidate will be instrumental in transforming the legacy system into a future-proof, service-oriented application architecture. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing IT procedures using Cobol, adapting nationwide system versions to meet regional requirements, and ensuring thorough documentation of all developed software components according to internal guidelines. You will also coordinate closely with IT operations and specialized departments to resolve processing issues and manage work orders directed to external service providers. Applicants must possess comprehensive knowledge of Cobol and applied software development methodologies. Required qualifications include a relevant university degree in IT or Business Informatics, or alternatively, an IT-related vocational qualification or at least three years of current, relevant IT professional experience. This position requires strong organizational skills and German proficiency at a C1 level.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics, OR Completed IT-related vocational training (e.g., IT Specialist, IT System Management Clerk).
Experience
- Minimum 18 months of relevant, application-related professional experience (if university degree is in a non-IT field)
- Minimum 3 years of current, relevant professional experience in Information Technology (as an alternative qualification path)
- Experience in leading projects, committees, and working groups
