Job Summary

The University of Bayreuth is seeking a full-time Technical Assistant for the Chair of Animal Ecology I, initially for a 6-month fixed term as a maternity cover, with potential for extension. This role involves supporting diverse ecological research, including projects related to microplastics and anthropogenic stressors. Day-to-day tasks include handling sensitive organisms, animal care, algae cultivation, and media control. A significant part of the job involves preparing environmental samples for microplastic analysis and characterization using µFTIR and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, alongside digital image analysis. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a Biological-Technical Assistant or equivalent, possesses technical understanding, and demonstrates reliability, independence, and strong teamwork skills.
