Job Summary

Join the Bayernwerk Netz GmbH team as an ICT Engineer, playing a crucial role in the ongoing automation and expansion of electricity and gas grids towards the Smart Grid of the future. Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring the secure and reliable operation of backbone and access transport networks (MPLS-TP, DWDM, and SDH systems). You will be responsible for the rapid detection, analysis, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure issues, managing internal and external service providers, and implementing new devices into management systems during network expansions. This role requires proactive analysis, documentation of service disruptions, and collaboration across technical departments. Ideal candidates possess practical experience operating wide-area network technologies, thrive in a Network Operation Center environment, and are committed to continuous professional development and team collaboration. This is a challenging position that offers the opportunity to shape the energy transition in Bavaria and requires participation in a 2nd level on-call rotation.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical vocational training, potentially with further qualification as a Master Craftsman/Technician/IT Specialist, or a degree in Computer Science, IT, or Telecommunications/Communications Engineering.

Experience

  • Practical knowledge in operating wide-area network technologies from relevant manufacturers
  • Experience in a Network Operation Center (NOC) environment or comparable setting
  • Professional experience ensuring secure operation of transport networks
