Job Summary
This role is for a highly motivated Biochemist to join a structural biochemistry research group, focusing on the structure-function relationship of proteins, particularly bacterial virulence factors and enzymes. The successful candidate will dedicate 60% of their time to research projects, involving recombinant protein expression, purification, crystallization, X-ray diffraction experiments, data analysis, and functional assays. Additionally, 25% of the role involves teaching duties, supervising practicals and exercises in biochemistry and chemistry, with the remaining 15% dedicated to organizational tasks within the group. This position is ideal for someone passionate about molecular protein function, offering a unique opportunity for scientific qualification and contributing to cutting-edge research in areas like the Type III secretion system or Flavin-dependent halogenases.

Master of Science (M. Sc.) or equivalent in Biochemistry or a related natural science field
Experience
- Practical experience with molecular biological methods

- Practical experience with protein purification (including FPLC)
- Experience with protein crystallization and X-ray structure analysis (desired)
- Practical experience with biophysical methods (desired)
