Scientific-Technical Research Associate (Fish Valorization Project) | Wissenschaftlich-technische:r Mitarbeiter:in im Projekt Fisch-Valorisierung 360°: (m/w/d)
Hochschule Bremerhaven Leitweg-ID: 04011000-285-78
Job Summary
This role involves serving as a Scientific-Technical Research Associate on the 'Fish Valorization 360°' project, focused on maximizing resource conservation and creating value from fish by-products generated during redfish filleting. The primary goal is to develop sustainable, circular economy solutions for internal processing, reducing waste, and establishing new revenue streams for the company. Day-to-day responsibilities include the detailed characterization of fish by-products, such as fish skin, focusing on proteins and bioactive peptides (e.g., antihypertensive, antimicrobial). You will investigate the storage stability of raw materials and products, and critically, develop and optimize an enzymatic digestion process to release proteins/peptides. A significant task involves scaling up this digestion process from a lab scale (15mL) to 5L using a microbial fermenter. Furthermore, the role requires purifying, identifying, and quantifying these bioactive compounds via advanced LC-MS techniques, and verifying their biological activity through various in-vitro assays. This position is ideal for professionals with a strong background in biotechnology or bioanalytics who are eager to apply their expertise in a practical, resource-efficient industrial setting.
