Job Summary

This senior role involves supporting the leadership of the DESY Project Management Agency, focusing heavily on governmental funding practices, regulatory compliance, and scientific management. The Deputy Head will utilize their extensive knowledge of the national economic, funding, and university landscapes, particularly concerning research policy and administrative law (budget, grants, procurement). Day-to-day activities include ensuring compliance with ISO 9001/QMS standards, managing digitalization and organizational projects, and representing the agency to ministries. A key function is the responsible design of project and process management frameworks, alongside steering science communication formats. The ideal candidate possesses a scientific background (preferably Physics PhD) and profound experience in sovereign funding practices and science management, coupled with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, operating in a highly political environment.
