Job Summary
This full-time, permanent position at one of Europe's largest music universities in Cologne involves managing and maintaining the core IT infrastructure while serving as the Deputy Head of the IT Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering the Cisco network, managing a virtualized server environment using VMWare and Veeam for backup, and maintaining the Exchange email server. Day-to-day duties include coordinating a team of seven, documenting IT processes, handling license management, and providing high-level user support. This role requires strong technical expertise in Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, File/Print services) and excellent leadership skills to organize and coordinate the team, making it an ideal opportunity for a seasoned IT professional looking to step into a leadership role within a dynamic academic setting.

Education
Completed university degree with an IT focus or comparable vocational training
Experience
- Long-term professional experience in IT administration (if lacking a relevant degree)
- Foundational knowledge and experience with setting up and administering Windows 2019 Server/Network services (AD, DNS, File/Print services)
- Foundational knowledge in setting up and administering Exchange
- Foundational knowledge in setting up and administering a virtualized server infrastructure (VMWare) including backup with Veeam
- Ideally, leadership experience of at least two years
