Job Summary
This senior leadership role involves heading the Labor Market Analysis and Social Policy Sector within the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Bern. The Head of Sector is responsible for the strategic, operational, and personnel management of a five-person team. A key function is participating in the definition of Swiss economic policy as a member of the directorate. Day-to-day tasks include conducting in-depth analyses of the labor market situation and trends, identifying intervention needs, and developing robust decision-making bases for labor market policy. The position requires managing complex projects, leading working groups, and representing Switzerland in delegations to international organizations. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced specialist and qualified manager with deep knowledge of economic policy and a passion for shaping coherent, inclusive, and growth-oriented social and labor market policy leveraging the full potential of the workforce.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Economics, preferably specializing in Labor Market Economics, and a Doctorate (PhD).
Experience
- Several years of experience as a qualified specialist and manager
- In-depth knowledge of economic policy
- Experience managing complex projects and leading working groups
- Professional experience representing national interests in international delegations

Additional
- Excellent active knowledge of two official languages (German, French, or Italian) plus English is required. Must possess strong goal orientation, systemic vision, and resilience. Requires aptitude for interpersonal relationships, cross-sector collaboration, and maintaining professional contacts.
