Job Summary

The Institute of Phytopathology at Kiel University is seeking two highly motivated Research Associates/Doctoral Candidates to join a newly established research group focused on optimizing assisted tree migration through Omics approaches. These roles, starting in March 2026, involve leading individual projects investigating how climate change affects forests and testing the viability of migrating trees from warmer regions (e.g., Spain) to Northern Germany. Day-to-day tasks include designing and executing research projects focusing on the adaptation of various oak species to fungal pathogens and abiotic stress, publishing results in peer-reviewed journals, and mentoring junior students. The ideal candidates possess a Master's degree in Biology, Agricultural Science, or a related field, practical molecular biology lab experience, and a strong interest in host-pathogen systems and fieldwork.
