Job Summary

This Senior Principal Scientist role involves leading multiple drug discovery programs and collaborations within Research / Early Development (RED) Oncology, spanning from target identification through support of early clinical development. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the drug development strategy, provide matrixed management and coaching to peers, and support the career development of colleagues in Research Oncology. Key responsibilities include implementing back translational strategies, driving integrated portfolio strategy across assets, and maintaining external networks with academia and CROs. The role requires a Ph.D. in Cancer Biology and extensive industry experience, particularly in discovering therapies for biomarker-driven patient populations. Success depends on strong project leadership, strategic planning in Oncology, and excellent communication skills to articulate complex data to cross-functional audiences, while embodying VACC leadership principles.

Ph.D. in Cancer Biology or a related field

Experience

  • Several years of industry experience (post-Ph.D.)
  • Experience with the discovery of therapies for biomarker-driven, selected patient populations
  • Experience in the design and execution of early-stage research program(s) to identify and validate novel targets
  • Experience in strategic planning and project leadership in Oncology
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional collaborations, including managing relationships with academic collaborators and CROs
  • Strong record of publication and conference presentations in cancer biology
