This is a project-based role (three years) within the City of Viernheim's Office for Urban Development and Environmental Planning, focusing critically on the expansion of the city's digital infrastructure, specifically the fiber optic network. The technician will be responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and approving street openings and excavations, primarily related to utility installations. Key day-to-day tasks include issuing excavation permits, coordinating construction measures in public areas with various departments, and conducting final inspections and acceptance of road surfaces after utility line installation. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a state-certified technician in civil engineering with a focus on underground construction, possesses relevant professional experience (preferably in the public sector), and is proficient in standard software and specialized applications like AutoCAD and GIS. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed advanced training as a state-certified Technician in Civil Engineering with a focus on Underground Construction, or an equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Experience in handling standard software and specialized applications (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS)
