Job Summary

This role is ideal for recent graduates interested in advancing real-time Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for counter-drone systems within the Institute of Flight Systems Technology. The professional will focus on developing, training, and optimizing ML models for drone detection and tracking, specifically designed for integration into both flying and ground-based systems. Key responsibilities include accelerating and scaling AI algorithms for onboard (embedded) use, generating synthetic training data, and integrating suitable sensor systems. The position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Machine Learning and Image Processing, coupled with experience in deep neural networks and software development using high-level languages like C++ or Python. The successful candidate will manage the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept through to realistic flight trials, with the unique opportunity to pursue a part-time doctorate.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master / Diploma Uni) in Computer Science with a focus on Machine Learning and Image Processing, or a relevant field

Experience

  • Experience in implementing and training deep neural networks
  • Experience in generating synthetic training data
  • Experience in software development, including at least one high-level language (e.g., C++ or Python)
  • Knowledge of unmanned aviation and the application of Machine Learning in this field
