Job Summary

Join the Research and Development team in Instrumental Analytics at Roche Diagnostics Mannheim as an R&D Specialist focusing on Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS). This role is crucial for diagnostic innovation, primarily involving the execution and optimization of release tests to ensure regulatory compliance and data quality in IVD diagnostics. Day-to-day tasks include performing and documenting GCMS release analyses, developing and optimizing analytical methods (including derivatization and purification), and interpreting complex mass spectrometric data using advanced software. You will also be responsible for maintaining GCMS instrumentation and ensuring strict adherence to GMP/GLP and IVD regulations. The ideal candidate possesses a scientific background in chromatography and mass spectrometry, practical experience with GCMS, and strong communication skills for collaboration within international, cross-functional teams.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree focused on chromatographic methods and mass spectrometry, or equivalent natural science training with more than 10 years of experience in chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis

Experience

  • At least 1 year of practical experience with GC-MS
  • Experience in IVD Diagnostics or Pharmaceutical Analytics is ideal
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GC-MS technology, including method development and instrument management
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in GMP/GLP environments and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Experience with analytical platforms for mass spectrometry and data analysis tools

  • The position is temporary (2 years). Willingness to work at the Penzberg location for approximately 3 months during the structured onboarding phase is required. Main location is Mannheim.
