Job Summary
This role is for an experienced Automation Engineer specializing in PLC programming and framework development for modern, networked production facilities. Based in Leipzig, the engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reusable framework libraries using TwinCAT 3 and/or CODESYS 3, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability across various global customer projects. Key qualifications include a degree in a relevant technical field (Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or Computer Science) and at least five years of practical experience in PLC programming for specialized machinery. The role requires strong knowledge of IEC 61131-3, software architecture principles, and basic object-oriented programming concepts. The engineer will also mentor junior team members, optimize workflows, and define development standards, requiring a high willingness to travel internationally for commissioning activities.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a comparable technical field
Experience
- Minimum 5 years practical experience in PLC programming for specialized machinery
- Experience in developing reusable libraries with TwinCAT 3 or CODESYS 3
- Experience with NC applications and drive commissioning
- Experience with library documentation (ideally reStructuredText)
- Mentoring and supporting less experienced team members
