Job Summary

The Technical University of Dresden (TUD) is seeking a Research Associate/Doctoral Candidate to join the Theoretical Chemistry Chair within the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry. This crucial role involves working in an interdisciplinary team focused on evaluating potential repositories for radioactive waste. The successful candidate will apply advanced theoretical chemistry methods, including first principles, kinetic Monte-Carlo, and machine learning, to investigate the sorption and diffusion of radionuclides (U, Pu, Am) and decay products (Zr) through rock minerals. Day-to-day tasks include conducting simulations, analyzing diffusion phenomena, linking speciation with spectroscopic signatures, and collaborating closely with project partners. Required qualifications include a Master's degree in Chemistry or Physics with a background in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry/Physics, strong knowledge of simulation methods, and Actinide chemistry. This position offers an excellent opportunity for scientific qualification (typically a doctorate) within one of Germany's leading research environments, supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
