Job Summary
The Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden is seeking an accomplished individual for a W2 Professorship in Solar Energy and Building Automation within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering/Environmental Technology. This role requires a professional with proven practical and scientific expertise to represent the subject area in teaching, applied research, and development. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading lectures and practical courses in both German and English, supervising theses, and mentoring junior researchers, including those pursuing doctorates. The professor will also be responsible for leading and expanding the Energy and Building Technology laboratory, driving interdisciplinary collaboration, and actively acquiring and managing research projects. Key qualifications include an advanced degree in a relevant engineering field, significant professional experience, and excellent proficiency in both German and English. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable field; Doctorate (PhD) required; Pedagogical suitability required; Relevant additional qualifications (e.g., Energy Efficiency Expert) desirable.
Experience
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the subject area, ideally in an international environment
- Scientific publications and/or research projects in the teaching area
- Good networking within the relevant scientific community
- Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation with industry and research institutions
- At least 5 years of professional practice after completing the university degree, of which at least 3 years must have been outside the higher education sector
