Job Summary

This full-time, two-year contract position at the Straubing Zoo, a member of WAZA, EAZA, and VdZ, involves critical work supporting the scientific management of over 2000 animals across 200 species. The successful candidate will primarily focus on enhancing animal welfare and behavior through structured programs. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating an Animal Welfare Assessment System, developing and managing an interspecies animal training program (especially medical training), and planning and executing a comprehensive enrichment program for the entire animal collection. The role also requires organizational support for research projects and the coordination of species conservation projects and captive breeding programs. Candidates must possess a degree in Zoology, Behavioral Biology, or a related field, ideally bringing experience in scientific publication and zoological facility operations.
