Physicist | Physiker (m/w/d)
Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz
Job Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious Physicist to join the "Experimental Quantum Optics and Quantum Information" research group at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. The core focus is on advancing cutting-edge quantum physics using cold, neutral atoms, specifically within the ZEROVAK and BECCAL projects, which aim to develop robust quantum sensors for space and field applications, including collaboration with NASA on an experiment for the International Space Station (ISS). Day-to-day responsibilities include the design and development of novel compact laser and vacuum systems, supporting experimental setups, and coordinating activities with international project partners. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Physics and has experience in experimental work, particularly in laser physics, optics, or ultracold quantum gases. This position is particularly attractive as it explicitly supports the candidate's independent research with the goal of obtaining a PhD, offering strong support for an academic career in a dynamic, international team.
