Job Summary
The City of Haltern am See is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to serve as the Heavy Rainfall Risk Manager for the municipal urban drainage company. This crucial, full-time, permanent role focuses on developing and implementing comprehensive measures to reduce flood damage risks caused by heavy rainfall. Key responsibilities include executing projects for rainwater retention in rural areas under specific federal programs, developing strategies based on existing flood protection concepts, and organizing and participating in water body inspections. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring the condition of water bodies and flood protection systems, managing external contractors, and supporting other technical tasks within the urban drainage utility. Candidates must possess a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on urban water management or hydraulic engineering and have knowledge of water law and technical regulations.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Bachelor, Master, or Dipl.-Ing.) in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Urban Water Management or Hydraulic Engineering, or an equivalent degree.
Experience
- Professional experience in applying technical regulatory frameworks (DWA guidelines and DIN standards)
- Professional experience with the fundamentals of water law legislation (WHG, LWG)
- Prior knowledge of procurement law is desirable
