Job Summary

This role as a Laboratory Technical Assistant at the Zoological Institute of TU Braunschweig focuses on supporting cutting-edge research in cellular neurobiology, specifically neuroinflammation and memory formation. The successful candidate will be responsible for critical day-to-day lab operations, including the isolation and sterile cultivation of primary neurons and glial cells, CNS tissue preparation, and the preparation of essential buffers and reagents. A core component of the job involves executing various molecular and biochemical methods, such as PCR/qPCR, Western Blot, and ELISA, along with meticulous electronic documentation and equipment maintenance. Candidates must possess a qualification as a Biological, Medical, or Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant and demonstrate strong practical experience in animal cell cultures and handling/monitoring of laboratory animals. This part-time (75%), permanent position offers the stability of public sector employment (TV-L E7), flexible working models, and the opportunity to contribute to significant academic research within an international, supportive university setting.

Qualification as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant (PTA)

Experience

  • Professional experience with animal cell cultures, ideally neurons and glial cells
  • Experience in animal experimental activities (handling, injections, monitoring)
