Job Summary

GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is seeking a Research Software Engineer to join the Knowledge Technologies for the Social Sciences (KTS) department in Cologne. This role is integral to the Big Data Analytics team, focusing on the development and operation of the GESIS Methods Hub, a crucial web platform providing research tools, AI models, and interactive code execution environments utilizing containerized workflows. Day-to-day responsibilities include the continuous development and maintenance of the Methods Hub backend (Python/Django), integrating the platform with internal and external services (like GitHub), and collaborating with researchers to embed cutting-edge AI technologies. A key project involves developing an AI-based quality assurance pipeline and integrating Generative AI (Chat Bots, Agents) into the department's offerings. Candidates must possess a university degree in Computer Science and demonstrated expertise in backend software development, Python, Docker, and Web APIs.
