Job Summary

This position is a Doctoral Researcher role within a research project focusing on the 'Programming of cooperative behaviors in honeybees' at the Institute of Evolutionary Genetics, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular and neural foundations of cooperative behavior in honeybees, linking developmental molecular bases and neural circuits to the rich behavioral repertoire and social organization of the species. Day-to-day work involves utilizing advanced methodologies such as CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, reporter expression, state-of-the-art light microscopy, neural circuit manipulation, and behavioral analyses in experimental bee colonies. The role requires independent project development, creative thinking, and participation in university teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for a Master's graduate in Biology or Biochemistry with broad interests in genetics, neuroscience, and behavioral biology to conduct cutting-edge research in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment.
