Job Summary
This role as a Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technician involves performing critical diagnostic tasks within the field of personalized medicine at the Institute of General Pathology at TU Munich. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing paraffin tissue sections, extracting nucleic acids from challenging samples (Formalin-fixed, Paraffin-embedded tissue and Liquid Biopsy), and conducting advanced molecular analyses using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) on Illumina platforms (NextSeq/NovaSeq). The technician will also perform classical methods such as PCR, Sanger sequencing, and FISH. A key focus will be the independent establishment and validation of new diagnostic assays, managing laboratory equipment, and meticulously documenting samples according to Quality Management (QM) system requirements. The ideal candidate must possess completed professional training (BTA/MTA/MTLA equivalent), demonstrated practical experience in these molecular techniques, strong reliability, excellent teamwork skills, and proficiency in German. This is a crucial, high-impact role supporting precise diagnostic and therapeutic decisions for tumor and pathogen detection.

Completed vocational training as a Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), Medical Laboratory Technical Assistant (MTLA), or Laboratory Biologist
Experience
- Practical experience in molecular biology techniques
- Experience with Next Generation Sequencing platforms (Illumina NextSeq/NovaSeq)
- Experience in establishing and validating new assays
- Experience in Whole Genome Sequencing (advantageous)
