Job Summary
This role involves supporting and advancing the IT infrastructure within the State Office for Geology and Mining (LGB) in Mainz. The specialist will be crucial in maintaining operational stability, focusing on server administration, network components, storage arrays, and software distribution packaging. A key responsibility is the implementation and operation of a secure Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, including the administration of mobile endpoints. Day-to-day tasks include providing 1st-level user support, setting up IT workstations, and contributing to IT security measures and project implementation (migration and optimization). The ideal candidate possesses a degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience through relevant professional training, coupled with fundamental knowledge of network technologies, virtualization, and Windows/Linux operating systems. Excellent German language skills are mandatory for effective communication and documentation within this public sector role.
Required Skills
Education
University degree, preferably in IT, Business Informatics, Administrative Informatics, or a comparable field; or equivalent qualifications demonstrated through relevant IT vocational training.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT administration (desirable)
- Experience with Mobile Device Management and software distribution systems (desirable)
- Professional experience in a relevant IT field if qualification is based on vocational training
