Job Summary

The Environmental Management Specialist position at DB InfraGO AG in Düsseldorf involves acting as a key consultant for project teams, guiding them from the planning phase through to operational handover regarding environmental and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include advising project management on the scope of environmental services, reviewing planning and execution documents related to nature and species protection, water and immission control, and waste management to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards. The role requires ensuring smooth internal and external approval processes, acting as the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) recognized environmental expert, and serving as the primary contact for relevant authorities. This specialist will also drive knowledge sharing and best practice implementation across the regional network and support the documentation of nature conservation compensation obligations, ensuring high-quality, legally compliant infrastructure planning for future generations.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Master) in Engineering Sciences, Natural Sciences, Environmental Technology, Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a comparable field with relevant specializations.

Experience

  • Initial experience in environmental management and/or waste management in construction projects
  • Experience in environmental planning using nature conservation instruments (e.g., impact regulations)
  • Professional experience in engineering or natural sciences environment
  • Must be, or willing to become, an EBA-recognized Environmental Specialist (Umweltfachkraft)
